A New Decade With Old Friends

Hello 2010! A new year means a fresh start.  I am attempting to mend my neglectful blogging ways.  I promise to keep my blog updated this year.  Well, I promise to try...

For my first post in TWO years (shameful), I would like to share a personal project that is near to my heart.  The 804 project.  For the past couple of years, I have been photographing my dear Richmond friends.  These people keep me sane in this crazy world.  They are my chosen family.  As every photographer knows, the human face is so amazing.   What some consider "flaws", we see as character and definition.  It is hard to capture everyone's true personality in just a couple of snap shots, but I am enjoying trying.

This is still a work in progress, as some people are a little camera shy and need some prodding (gently, of course).

I will post a gallery after the first exhibition.  I can't give away too much up front.  Here is a little taste of 804 and the beautiful people who help me through life.

Happy New Year!

Congratulations to all of the newly engaged couples! The holidays are a popular time for proposals, and the beginning of the New Year is a great time to start planning. I hope you will begin to inquire about your photographers (and other vendors) now, because the Spring and Summer seasons book up quickly. Please feel free to contact me either by phone or email (804.938.0977 or jamie@jamieparkerphotography.com) to set up your personalized meeting today!

Fall Fashion

Fall is approaching and I know women everywhere are looking at the latest fashions in stores and online. I want to showcase some photos I took of a local Fashion Designer's clothing line. Her name is Laurianda Jenkins and her company originated in 2003. She showcases her clothing in Richmond and New York. Check out her designs at: www.laurianda.com

Window to the soul

Carly Owens is of one of my models who has just recently moved to Maryland to pursue her career at the Make a Wish Foundation of the Mid-Atlantic, Inc. She is helping to fulfill wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. It is such a worthy cause! I wish her the best!! Good luck Carly! We miss you.

Going to New York!

Rudy Avila is a model for Cameo Models and has just been signed to an agency in New York City. He leaves this week for the Big Apple. I was honored to attend his going away/surprise party. Despite his good looks, Rudy is a very humble young man. His whole family seems to be that way. He said that he only wants to make his parents proud. So far, I think he is doing a good job. I photographed Rudy recently for Cameo, and I have never been thanked SO many times for doing my job. I see nothing but good things for such a bright, pleasant guy. At his surprise dinner, Cameo presented him with these two photographs among many other good-bye gifts. He was so grateful. In such a superficial modeling world, it is nice to see well-rounded individuals. Good luck Rudy!!!

Cameo Models Internationale, Inc.

I am proud to announce that I will be working closely with Cameo Models and their new faces! I look forward to many photo shoots with the models, especially one in particular. In August, we will be traveling to Virginia Beach for a weekend fashion photo shoot. The models and I will be working from morning to night to enhance their portfolios. I am packing lots of SPF and H20 for the trip. It will be a lot of fun!!!

Marleen Durfee

Recently, I had the privilege of photographing Mrs. Durfee who is running for the Matoaca District Representative on the Chesterfield County Board of Supervisors. Marleen's look was styled by Lou Stevens, an AMAZING stylist with whom I have had the pleasure of working on several occasions. Marleen was very pleasant to work with; she was calm and patient, despite her very hectic schedule. She was very excited after the photoshoot to go home and show her husband. She said, “He wont even recognize me!” I encourage you to visit Marleen’s website to learn more about her campaign!
